Our weekly offering of hoop dance class in St. Louis is on break and will resume November 30th. The STL Hoop Club has been teaching hoop dance classes in St. Louis so long we lost count how many years- we think its around 7 though. Teacher Michelle Schaeffer has been teaching at the Gateway Flex yoga and dance studio for over three years. Currently, class is offered on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:15pm. Class is donation based and open to all ages and skill levels. Hoops are provided and available for purchase via custom order.
The STL Hoop Club will be hosting it’s monthly Introduction to the Hoop- Stepping in the Hoop on April 6th at 2720 Cherokee. This class is open to all and hoops are provided. About this workshop: Material that will be covered will give beginners to intermediate students a variety of knowledge about the single hoop and double hoops. Moves covered will be hooping on the core, hooping off the body, and vertical hooping. All while incorporating flow and getting comfortable in the groove of your hoop!
Who: All new or intermediate hoop dancers
What: Introduction class that includes hoop terms, concepts, tricks, moves, and flow
Cost: $25 or register with a friend and save $10 ($20 each)

This Saturday June 23, 2012 the STL Hoop Club will host a free dance class given by the Core Project Chicago while visiting St. Louis to perform at the St. Louis Fringe Festival June 21- 24 at the Kranzberg Black Box Theatre www.stloufringe.tumblr.com. The Cosmic Collaborative will also be giving street performances at the event on Saturday from 4-5pm. To attend this class send an email with your contact information to email@example.com. CLASS DESCRIPTION – Modern Technique : This class will move you into and out of the floor using your body from head to toe. Rooted in modern dance principles, dancers will explore movement creatively through dynamic sequences and improvisation. By the end of class you will have worked up a sweat, engaged in the art of dance and, most of all, had a whole lot of fun! This class is open level, all ages. Attire is for movement, bring water. Typically, Core Project Chicago offers class for $15 a session through their Community Moves education and outreach imitative. This class will be given for FREE – you are welcome to donate.
It will be a weekend of education, fitness, and fun! In the house will be 3 amazing entertainers and instructors visiting from Kansas City. Workshops will be offered by Luna Breeze, Robin Rose, and Jason Divad in three different areas of focus. The weekend will wrap up on Sunday with a spin jam at the STL Hoop Club studio from 1-4pm at 2720 Cherokee located on Cherokee Street in St. Louis.
