World Hoop Day St. Louis 2012

October 15th, 2012 · News

Fall is here and that means World Hoop Day St. Louis is right around the corner.  This year St. Louis Hoop Club will celebrate with two events.  One being held on 12-12-12 (actual WHD) and the other on 12-15-12 (Saturday) Plans are in the works designing the events now.  This year our events will have a focus on community and bringing family into the hoop.  We will be offering an array of parent child workshops on Saturday and encouraging the St. Louis School District and other schools to get involved.

What is World Hoop Day all about you wonder?  World Hoop Day is a 501c3 based international holiday for hoopers (people that hula-hoop) and has been celebrated for almost 10 years.  You can visit their website at  The concept behind the holiday is to give hoops to kids while promoting a more healthy and happy lifestyle.  In St. Louis we have done our part by partnering with the St. Louis School District’s PE program.  To date we have donated 300 hula-hoops to 3 different schools.  The hoops have been made by our local hooping community.  Then teachers of the STL Hoop Club teach hoop dance in the school’s PE program.  We are very excited about celebrating our fourth year in the hoop and hope you can join us.

December marks our 4th birthday as a community based organization!

World Hoop Day! 09/09/09

June 18th, 2009 · News

world_hoop_dayPlease join us in the celebration of World Hoop Day on September 9, 2009. The STL Hoop Club has joined forces with LED Heady Hoops and will be hosting a special event at the Koken Art Factory. Part of the proceeds will be going to supply under privelaged city children with hula hoops.

Since 2006, World Hoop Day has been dedicated to bringing dance, exercise and toy hoops to under-privileged children living in extreme poverty and underdeveloped neighborhoods of our world. Founded by Annie O’Keeffe, her husband, Kevin, and friend Stefan Pildes, World Hoop Day is a not-for-profit organization that uses a community-based, grass roots approach to provide one-of-a-kind “hula” hoops.
