SATURDAY, MAY 26th / Isolations I – 2:00pm 90 minutes

This workshop will focus on increasing your level of comfort with hoop isolations. First by covering simple isolations and discussing practice tips to improve the ‘stillness’ of the hoop, then by introducing different techniques and ways to conceptualize how a hoop moves most naturally, or unnaturally. Still isolations, lines, and two-handed techniques will be covered.

Weaves, Turns, and Butterflies I – 3:30, 90 minutes

This mixed level class covers complementary techniques pertaining to weaves, turns, and butterfly variations. Tricks from each category will be taught along with demonstrations of ways to sequence these new tricks together. Weaving, thread the needle, reels, and turns will be taught and discussed.

SUNDAY, MAY 27th / Isolations II – 2:00p, 90 minutes

Participants should be comfortable with one handed isolations, simple two handed techniques, and basic lines, or have taken ‘Isolations I’.  Isolations II will work nearly exclusively on ‘moving isolations’, manipulating your hoop to move as if it’s floating through the air. Some time will be spent on more advanced two-handed techniques, as well as twin hoop isolations.

Weaves, Turns, and Butterflies II – 3:30, 90 minutes

Participants should be comfortable with forward 3-beat, thread the needle, and reels, or have attended ‘Weaves, Turns, and Butterflies I’.  This workshop will expand on these simple techniques and add dimension to you performance by introducing tricks and exercises designed to increase your range of motion with hoops. Reverse 3-beat, fountains, butterfly turns, flowers and extensions will be covered.
